Active Release Technique®
Active Release Technique® (ART) is a patented, state-of-the-art, soft tissue system based on massage techniques that treat problems associated with overuse injuries. ART treatment is a combination of examination and treatment. The initial evaluation is used to examine the texture, tension, movement, and function of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and nerves.
There are over 500 specific movements that are unique to ART. Because of the extensive number of movements, therapists are able to precisely treat the problems affecting each individual patient by combining tension with very specific patient movements. As a result, the ART approach is different for each patient and for each injury.
ART is dependent on pressure and tension, so personal tolerance is variable. Patients may experience reddening on their skin, but no damage is done. Treatment sites may also be sore to the touch for a short time, but normal activities can be resumed. ART sessions are usually done with at least 1 day of rest in between.
These non-invasive, very safe Active Release Techniques have virtually no side effects and have a track record of excellent results. With ART, soft tissue problems are resolved and symptoms usually do not return unless the injury reoccurs.
