ASTYM
The ASTYM system is an evidence-based, non-invasive rehabilitation program that stimulates the regenerative healing process of the body. The goal of ASTYM treatment is to stimulate the body’s healing response, resulting in the resorption and remodeling of scar tissue and the regeneration of degenerative tendons. In other words, ASTYM treatment helps rejuvenate muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
This effective therapy involves a certified therapist using specially designed instruments to identify the areas of dysfunction. The therapist moves the instruments firmly along the patient's skin, in very particular directions. This helps the therapist recognize the defective soft tissue, and ultimately, help those areas heal.
With a typical course of treatment lasting only four to six weeks, the ASTYM system is a therapy that works quickly and consistently. In fact, clinical outcomes from across the country indicate that 88% of all patients treated with ASTYM achieve improved function and decreased pain (even if the condition is chronic and previous treatment has not produced the desired results).
Good to Know
Some soreness and/or mild bruising may be experienced following initial treatments; however, this improves as the healing progresses. Patients are expected to carry out a customized program of stretching and exercise at home, as their compliance is essential for maximizing treatment results.
