Job Analysis
Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers' therapists who specialize in ergonomics provide on-site assessments of specific jobs and worksites. These analyses include detailed reviews of the physical demands that employees must perform in order to return to their specific jobs.
Required job functions that may be analyzed include:
- Standing, walking, sitting
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
- Climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, turning
- Reaching, handling
- Talking, hearing
- Visual acuity, depth perception, color vision
- Environmental factors (heat/cold exposure, noise intensity, vibration, atmospheric conditions, etc.)
- Repetitive overuse risk
Information is gathered by taking digital pictures and video, as well as measuring and observing job tasks. Existing job descriptions are reviewed and supervisors and employees are interviewed. A detailed report is designed from the information collected. It includes a general description of the job, essential and non-essential functions, information on the working environment, and specifications of the job demands.
Additional recommendations for job modifications and ergonomic/safety changes may also be made. A job analysis report allows rehabilitation goals to be work-specific and return-to-work decision-making to be enhanced.
